New BFI

The newly renovated BFI has just reopened and has joined the NFT next door. It's fantastic. Am re-visiting later on to take advantage of their archive and screening room!

Meeting Next Week

Here is one of my favourite possible outfits for the project, although I have to talk it over with the client, whom I'm having an initial meeting with next week, as these are from past collections and she may want to promote something upcoming.
I'm going to take some mood boards/source images to get across the general tone and feeling I want to create, along with some specific video ideas, however it must be open as she may have her own ideas to accomodate too.

Topshop Funding

I've written to Topshop/Arcadia Group to see if they would be interested in having something to do with my project, i.e. funding as they are notorious for supporting new emerging designers

and generally seem to be quite progressive.

Advertising from the 50's/60's

I've been researching short film clips from photographers, including Guy Bourdin and Erwin Blumenfeld, as I think the results from photographers seem to be more condensed and graphic than filmmakers. The video below is from Blumenfeld's experiments in advertising from the late 50's. I especially like the second part with the wind machine and flowers. It is something short and relatively simple to execute, but slightly surreal that I'm trying to achieve.

This is a great example of the things that can be done when fashion and technology get together:

More References

Have spoken to a recent graduate working as a set designer today who used to work for one of my favourite set designers (see link below), although difficult to discuss anything as need to have client and basis for ideas first...still good to know people are out there and interested.

So in the current vein of posting lots of references and sources of inspiration for this project and so here is another:

Here are some online references from SHOWstudio that are very much in a similar vein to what I propose to do, well worth a look!
