This is a very rough experimental sketch as to how the VR piece would function. It makes clothing look more like sculpture than functional objects and draws attention to their construction.

oooh neat-o!
Looks interesting... hard to judge what kind of effect it has on my view of the garment with so much distracting wardrobe business in the background though! Would you plan on keeping the stop frame esque aesthetic? I had been imagining something smoother from our conversations.

hey
I realize this is only a sketch, but its exciting to start vizualizing what kind of things u have in mind for this project Joanne. Will be great to see what comes out once u start on all the programming.
Best,
Teresa
No would be much smoother A, with nothing in the background, at all. This was just to test out how a piece of clothing would look from all angles. No stop frame here, no siree.
Any cake leftover?
Thanks T xx
Project seems to be going well...the garments look great and are an excellent source of inspiration. I trust at this point that the client is being supportive. Good that you are evaluating a variety of representaional techniques- off and on the body. Have you contacted
'showstudio' with a view to contributing?
Overall good that you are digging deep and getting involved in the fashion representation debate in a contemporary and futuristic sense.

Thanks for that. The client has been supportive up until now but has suddenly become quite difficult to get ahold of and cooperate, e.g. she has had to postpone my meeting with her tomorrow, which may be because of the holidays or something else I'm not sure. Such is the problem with working with other busy people I suppose!
I have contacted SHOWstudio and proposed this as a way for them to potentially generate profit, as that was the main concern on their agenda according to their creative director.
However it seems that the industry whilst priding itself in being progressive, really isn't as open to new things as they would like to be seen as being.
As he has said in his email to me that,
"...we have thought of every possible permutation of how
what we do can be translated into advertising, including what you
are suggesting yet getting brands wholly to buy into this way of
thinking, or even enter into it free of charge, is the issue at
hand."
However I will be in their studio next Wednesday (!) to assist with their current project, so I'll report back with what he says in person next week!
